Lenten Bible/Cultural Study ...

Fellowship Hall Wednesdays, beginning February 13

5:30 p.m. Soup and Bread Supper /  5:45 p.m. The Emerging Culture

The answer to these difficult questions may be found in a greater understanding of the culture in which our children and grandchildren find themselves.

History is measured by cultural change. The Bronze Age. The Middle Ages. The Enlightenment. The Modern Age. Each of these eras was so named because of the significant changes that distinguish it from the preceding cultures. In the last several decades observers have noticed another significant change. They call it the postmodern era. We’ll call it the emerging culture.

We may love it, be indifferent to it, or even hate it. But we cannot ignore our changing culture since we, those we love, and those we are called to reach as a church are all part of it.

The emerging culture won’t just blow over. It’s not a “phase” or “fad” we’re going through and then things will get “back to normal.” We need to understand this changing culture and decide what our role as Christians and parents/grandparents is within it.

This Lenten season, we at Willow Street will have an opportunity to explore this Emerging Culture. This exciting and informative Emerging Culture Curriculum will help us better understand this emerging culture so that we might better relate to it: both as parents/grandparents/great grandparents as well as a church.

The group will meet in the Fellowship Hall for 6 Wednesday evenings starting on Wednesday, February 13. We will have a light “soup and bread” dinner beginning at 5:30, with the study beginning around the tables at 5:45. The study will conclude by 7:00 p.m.

Come, experience, learn, relate, enjoy!

What drives your children and grandchildren? Sometimes they seem to be from a foreign country—how do you understand them? Relate to them? What’s important to them? What is the strong attraction to videos, movies, video games, cell phone, text messages, and the chatting on the internet? Why is participation in a church so seemingly unimportant? How can the church best reach those under 50 years old?

The Prayer Service Every Thursday, 6:00 - 7:30 P.M. The Choir Room, 2nd floor

It is God’s pleasure to bless His children...to answer their prayers! There is power in prayers of agreement...there is power when we pray together! God’s hands move when His people pray!

Please join us and be strengthened by God’s Word, blessed by His presence, and encouraged in prayer.
