School Year

Our school year begins the week after Labor Day and continues through early to mid May. We operate on a schedule of 30 weeks of preschool. Several vacations are scheduled throughout the year to coincide with Thanksgiving, the Christmas holiday, President’s day week, and Easter. Snow days will be made up as needed.

Classes

The preschool provides classes for two through five year olds. Morning and afternoon classes are available. We have a limit of 8 students in our 2-year-old classes, 10 students in our 3 year old classes, and 12 students in our Pre-K class for 4 & 5 year olds. Our maximum classroom/teacher ratio is six to one.  We work with the local school districts through the  Transition to Kindergarten Initiative.  We also utilize the Pennsylvania Learning Standards for Early Childhood in our classrooms. 

The preschool helps children to grow socially and emotionally through individual and group activities that are woven into the preschool day.  Children are encouraged to learn and explore through child-centered activities that develop their thinking skills and foster creativity.  Songs, stories, rhythm activities and fingerplays promote literacy development.  Math and science activities help children to observe, compare and experiment.  Gym time  and outdoor play encourage the children to develop a love for fitness.  The school's goal is to prepare the children for a positive kindergarten experience as they learn to cooperate and work together.
